The mission of Mayme Clayton Library & Cultural Center is to collect, preserve; exhibit and disseminate the unique history and cultural heritage of Americans of African descent and thereby help to provide a more complete understanding of American history.
In so doing, the Mayme A. Clayton Library & Cultural Center will give voice to the depth and richness of the African American experience for all people through the establishment of the Clayton Cultural Center and the sharing of the Mayme A. Clayton Collection of African American History & Culture.
